Great pack. Used it for a 2 week trip to Sweden & Denmark last year. Held all my stuff and comfortable to carry. The big pocket at the bottom is perfect for that extra pair of shoes. Bought a big, cheap duffel to cover it so the straps didn’t get caught in the airline baggage handling equipment. Worked perfect!

Amazing bag!! I go camping and hiking quite a bit, and this bag has seen it all.. It has hit rocks, it has been through all sorts of terrain. I’ve never seen a bag so durable! I will definitely be getting more for all my outdoorsy friends.

I absolutely love this pack I’ve used it for about 2 years and has never failed me even while volunteer in for the Pacific crest trail association using it to carry rocks that easily weighed a 100 pounds more than the backpack.. I love their customer service I’ll keep buying from them just because of that!! Keep up the great work both in your equipment AND customer service!!

I think that the color choices are nice. I think that it has a lot of ways to organize. I like that it has added lumbar, waist and shoulder straps for comfort.

Great solid bag at an amazing price, takes a beating but holds up

Love this bag! I’m hard on my gear and it has not let me down. I’ve carried this backpack on almost 800 miles of trail, through all kinds of rough terrain, on numerous trips and it’s held up wonderfully. It’s set up is easy to pack, allowing me to store and organize all of my equipment so it’s accessible when I need it.

I’m also a big guy at 6’3” and 290lbs; the torso adjustments, chest and hip straps are perfect, allowing me to adjust the pack to my comfort, making long back country trips that much more enjoyable.

You also, from my experience, cannot beat the cost of this amazing bag. It has outlasted all the high dollar packs I’ve purchased in the past…That, combined with the savings, is incredible and frees up cash I can use for more gear or to help fund more trips.

In short, Teton Sports, is now my go to company for durable and affordable gear that I can use from the river bottoms to mountain tops with piece of mind. Thanks for the great product! This summer I’m going to try my hand at making hiking / gear videos and I’ll be sure to showcase this pack and anything else I buy from these guys. I can’t describe how happy I am with this pack in a short review.

This pack is an unbeatable value. I’ve used my Explorer 4000 on at least four backpacking trips now, and it has held up almost perfectly. One thing I like is the zipper durability. I almost rated the pack five stars, due to its value — what you get for the investment — but I did note a couple of things: Despite zipper durability, the zipper to the bottom access can be tough to move. Also, while my pack’s torso adjustment was easy to do, the Velcro there began coming open on my second trip with the pack; fortunately, I was able to hold it fast with duct tape. Other than those two things, the pack has performed flawlessly. To be happy with this pack, you have to like having some appreciable pocket space on the sides of the pack, something the 4000 offers while still maintaining a fairly trim look. For the price, it’s hard to imagine a better pack out there.

I’m 240 pounds and 5ft tall. I was TERRIFIED of trying to carry a pack for any distance. I’ve never bothered with a pack while hiking because I’ve been in groups and others just carried the things. Now I’ve decided that I want to hike Yosemite. My first trip out with this bag was not all what I expected. I went only 12 miles and up 1,400ft. I hiked two days with a camp one night. I couldn’t believe that I made it! This bag was 30+ pounds all packed up but felt like MAYBE 5 pounds hiking. The waist adjustment is a bit hard to get tight when the pack is wet but other than that, the adjustments are enough to accommodate a larger person. I felt like my normal 130 pound self in this thing, even though I’m 100+ pounds overweight. Teton has given me the motivation and confidence to get back out on the trail and finish a whole hike, straight through! I hadn’t crested a mountain in 30 years. This pack got me there and so much further!

You absolutely cannot go wrong with this pack. I purchased this pack through Amazon almost 18 months ago and had only used it 4 or 5 times when I noticed the stretch pocket on the side had ripped from the bag. Not expecting much, I contacted Teton and within 24 hours had a cordial response and message wanting to make it right. Alexandra was kind, prompt, and without hesitation sent me a new bag. This bag is no slouch either. It is tough, roomy, and comfortable. I really like the fact that while everyone else is fumbling with their straps loosening on them, my stay right where I put them. Folks, things are going to happen to products and companies are going to send out faulty items by mistake from time to time. To me that doesn’t matter. What matters is how they handle it and how they make it right with you. No backpacker wants to be without their gear or wants it failing. So in short, great bag and even better customer service. Thanks!

I’ve had this pack for 4 years now. Took it across Europe for a few weeks, taken a number of flights with it as raw checked baggage; I pack the straps and waist band inside so there’s nothing to snag on conveyors. It’s been absolutely abused on countless rock climbing and camping trips. It’s a work horse and has never had any issues with zippers, wear, tear, stretch. I’ve never had any discomfort on longer hikes when heavily packed. Absolutely killer for the price. The only time I’ve used other packs has been to opt for something lighter (much more expensive) for mountaineering.
