With the Universal Camp Cot we set out to make a super-strong cot that would feel as good as your bed at home and be easy to set up. So the strength is in the steel X-leg design. It has a 400 lb (181 kg) weight capacity. But there’s more:
It’s also incredibly easy to set up. The last corner pulls the canvas tight and that troublesome fourth corner is so much easier to get in place with our patented pivot arm. It’s a built-in lever that makes putting the tightest end bar into place quick and easy. Now you get the support you need, but the pivot arm does all the work for you so the fourth corner is as easy as the first.

Bought this size to go with the other 2 xxl cots we have. Chose this to reduce size in our tent and wife doesn’t need one as big as the xxl. Bought the camp pads as well and they make a huge difference and are very comfortable. However, we noticed the end rods that attach at each end stick out a very significant amount and catch’s my son age 4 when walking by. They aren’t evenly spaced and I’ve reached out to Teton CS in hopes of an answer or replacement. We will have to purchase something to cover the ends since the rods are very long out the sides and will catch everyone walking by. Hopefully it’s a design flaw or a bad rods. We can’t go smaller and have high hopes in their customer service for making this right.

To be fair, I’ve only used this once…on a two night camp out. I can’t attest to long term durability BUT, this thing is so comfortable. Roomy…I bought the medium sized cot. My husband loved his too. We are seniors and this cot made camping a possibility again for us.

We really like the cot but find the storage bag inadequate without a zipper closure. We have twelve cots and are disappointed that most of the square rubber protectors have fallen out of the frame corners. Injuries like bruises and scrapes from the bare metal and rips in our tents have resulted. Maybe you can improve on the above mentioned.

This cot is light years ahead of the cots I remember sleeping on as a kid. The most noticeable difference is there is no aluminum bar just close enough to the sleep surface to make the night super uncomfortable. This cot is amazing. I love it. It sits high enough off the ground to make it easy for old *** knees to work properly. Thank ***! If I had a SO, I'd buy another one for sure. You can't go wrong with this thing. Just make sure your tent is big enough to handle this cot. It's huge. Not quite a twin bed but darn close. Once you figure out how the pivot arm works, setup couldn't be any easier. I purchased a brand new universal XL Teton cot with pivot arm. Opened the manufacturer box and lifted the cot out of the bag. Pieces fell off the cot such as screws for the plastic feet and end caps. I thought this product was of high quality reasoning why I purchased it. Now I’m stuck not being able to return it because i need it this weekend but hope nothing else comes apart.

I bought these cots based on my own personal experence with the ones I'd had experience with in the military and the rough handling and use they got and these seemed to be promising to provide. And it looked like this was one outfit that had taken the size issue seriously and done something about it. HOWEVER, the XL cot I got seems to have too much material in the center and rather than the nice tight firm surface the military cots provided this Teton XL cot is so loose in the middle that even though they say it will support up to 400 lbs,, my 165 lb friend looks like their sleeping in a trough, as the cot seems to taco up around them. when i say that i remembered that when i was assembling it I was having to pull the outside rails together to get the end bars to fit, AND now I'm also recalling that the end bars both have nearly 2" of excess bar on one side.... so it may have been a QC or production problem that got the measurements on the end bar attachment points wrong. and rather than replace them with the ones done right they just through them in the box and shipped them like it was hoping no one would notice. And if your making a hundred of those end bars and realize they've ALL been cut wrong....that's a lot of metal to toss out and replace, which impacts profits on something many customers won't notice or return the product for.

We'd love to make this right for you! The end bars are intended to have a few extra inches on one side to allow the Vista 2 Tent to attach properly. The other side of the bottom and top rail does not have the additional space, so that it can fit against a second Universal cot to be used under our Vista 2 Tent.
